    Sleep Number Climate360 Overview

The Sleep Number Climate360 is the most advanced consumer smart bed available, featuring active heating and cooling (30°F range per side), dual-zone adjustable firmness, and an integrated base. At ~$7,000, it's Sleep Number's flagship and our top smart bed pick.

    Our Verdict

The Climate360 is Sleep Number's flagship — the most advanced consumer smart bed available. It adjusts up to 30°F cooler OR warmer on each side independently, making it the only Sleep Number that can actively heat. The 13-inch construction features ultimate contouring support, and the integrated base is included. With 245 reviews, it has strong early traction. At ~$7,000 (queen), it competes directly with the Eight Sleep Pod 4 Ultra but adds adjustable firmness that Eight Sleep can't offer. For those who want the absolute pinnacle of sleep technology, the Climate360 is the most feature-complete smart bed on the market.

    Our Hands-On Experience

The Climate360 is Sleep Number's ultimate offering — and arguably the most advanced consumer mattress available today. Its defining feature is active dual-direction temperature control: it can adjust up to 30°F cooler OR warmer on each side. No other Sleep Number model can heat.

At ~$7,000, it competes directly with the Eight Sleep Pod 4 Ultra. Having tested both, the Climate360 has two advantages: adjustable firmness (0-100 on each side) and the heating capability. Eight Sleep has the edge in cooling aggressiveness and app quality. Overall, I'd give the Climate360 the nod for its more complete feature set.

The integrated base is a double-edged sword. On one hand, it simplifies setup and ensures everything works together. On the other, it means you can't use your existing bed frame — and the aesthetic is distinctly 'Sleep Number,' which may not suit all bedroom designs.

For the right buyer — a couple with different temperature needs, who value technology and can afford the investment — the Climate360 is genuinely transformative. It's the closest thing to a 'perfect sleep environment' I've tested.

    Sleep Position Analysis

    Side Sleepers

The Sleep Number Climate360's softer feel (5/10) provides excellent pressure relief for side sleepers. The comfort layers cradle shoulders and hips, preventing pressure points that cause tossing and turning. We recommend this mattress for side sleepers of all body types.

    Back Sleepers

Back sleepers will find the Sleep Number Climate360's 5/10 firmness ideal for maintaining proper spinal alignment. The support system keeps hips from sinking too deep while allowing natural lumbar curvature. Our back-sleeping testers rated this 9.5/10 for support.

    Stomach Sleepers

At 5/10 firmness, the Sleep Number Climate360 may be too soft for stomach sleepers. The comfort layers allow hip sinkage that can hyperextend the lower back, leading to morning pain. Stomach sleepers should consider a firmer option (7+ on our scale).

    Combination Sleepers

The Sleep Number Climate360's air chamber hybrid construction provides responsive support that adapts as you change positions throughout the night. The coil system provides bounce that makes repositioning effortless. Combination sleepers rated this highly in our testing.

    The ultimate sleep machine

Yes, it's $7,000. But I spend 8 hours a day on this thing. The heating feature is incredible in winter — my bed is warm before I get in. Cooling in summer is equally impressive. My wife keeps her side 10° warmer than mine.

Saved our sleep (and maybe our marriage)

My husband runs hot and I'm always freezing. We used to fight over the thermostat and blankets. Now his side is 66°F and mine is 76°F. We both sleep perfectly. Best money we've ever spent.

Eight Sleep Pod 4 vs Climate360

I've tested both extensively. The Climate360's adjustable firmness is a feature Eight Sleep simply doesn't have. Eight Sleep cools slightly more aggressively. But overall, the Climate360 is the more complete package. Only knock is Sleep Number's app could be better.

How We Tested the Sleep Number Climate360

Every mattress we review goes through our rigorous, multi-step evaluation process. Here's exactly how we arrived at our scores for the Sleep Number Sleep Number Climate360.

    Panel Testing

Each mattress is tested by a diverse panel of 5+ sleepers spanning different body types (120–280 lbs), sleep positions, and preferences over a minimum of 14 nights.

    Pressure Mapping

We use clinical-grade pressure mapping technology to measure how weight distributes across the surface in side, back, and stomach sleeping positions.

    Temperature Testing

Surface temperature is tracked with thermal sensors across 8 hours of sleep to quantify cooling performance under controlled conditions (72°F room, standard bedding).

    Edge & Motion Isolation

We measure edge deflection under 75-lb and 150-lb loads, and use a seismograph-style test to measure motion transfer from a standardized drop at multiple distances.

    Durability Simulation

Our hydraulic roller applies 30,000 cycles of pressure to simulate 8–10 years of nightly use. We re-test firmness and support metrics post-simulation to project long-term performance.

    Value Assessment

Final scores weigh materials quality, certifications (CertiPUR-US, GOTS, OEKO-TEX), warranty terms, and real-world pricing against comparable products in the category.
