Tempur-Pedic ProAdapt 5-year update — is it still worth $3,500?

Bought the **Tempur-Pedic ProAdapt Medium Hybrid** in May 2021 for $3,499 (queen). Five years in, here's my honest assessment.
**What's held up beautifully:**
- Zero visible body impressions, even after 5 years of nightly use
- Edge support is still rock solid — no rollout feeling
- Cover stitching looks brand new
- Motion isolation is still elite — partner can leave for the bathroom and I literally don't notice
**What hasn't aged as well:**
- Sleeps warmer than I remember in year 1 (might be the cover absorbing oils)
- That signature "TEMPUR sink-in" feel has firmed up maybe 5–10%
- Smell came back faintly when I rotated it last summer — weird
**Honest verdict:** For me, yes, still worth it. But if I were buying today at $3,500+ I'd also seriously consider the Saatva Latex Hybrid at half the price. Has anyone else made it past year 5 with their Tempur and want to share?

Year 7 on a Tempur-Pedic ProAdapt Medium (all-foam, not hybrid). Mine has held up almost identically to yours — no impressions, slight firming, definitely sleeps warmer than year 1.
The firming is actually a thing Tempur themselves talk about: their proprietary foam continues to "settle" slightly for the first 2–3 years, then stays stable. That cover-rotation smell? That's old TEMPUR foam off-gassing trapped scent compounds when disturbed. Totally normal, totally harmless.
Worth it at $3,500? For me it's been ~$1.40/night so far and dropping. Cheapest sleep I've ever bought.
Counterpoint to "still worth it": I owned a ProAdapt for 6 years before switching to a Saatva Latex Hybrid. The Saatva runs *significantly* cooler (probably 3–4°F by feel), bounces better, and was less than half the price.
If I were buying for the next 10 years today at full retail, I'd go Saatva. Tempur is excellent — but the price-to-performance ratio of latex hybrids has gotten really hard to beat.
Have you tried washing the cover? Mine got the same warm-sleeping issue around year 4 — turns out the knit cover absorbs body oils and starts to retain heat. After a wash and a thorough air-out, it dropped close to year-1 temperature. Just FYI.

This matches Tempur's published density-retention data — they spec the foam to retain >85% of original support over 10 years. You're right on the curve.
For anyone reading this thread later: that "firming" is the foam's cell structure stabilizing, not breaking down. It's actually a *good* sign for longevity.
10-year Tempur-Pedic Cloud Luxe owner here. Slept on it last night. No sag, no impression, still feels great. The price/longevity math is wild when you actually stretch it out.
That said — my next mattress will be the Saatva Solaire because I want zoned firmness and Tempur doesn't do that well.
OP — for the warm-sleeping issue, look at swapping to a percale sheet set if you're on sateen. Sateen traps heat against the cover. Switching to crisp percale dropped my Tempur surface temp noticeably.
