Our Verdict
The ComfortMode is Sleep Number's most affordable smart bed, replacing the old c-series. This 10-inch hybrid combines Sleep Number's signature adjustable air chambers with built-in cooling materials and pressure-relieving foam. Each side adjusts independently from 0-100 firmness, making it ideal for couples. It includes basic sleep insights via the SleepIQ app. At $1,599, it's the entry point into the Sleep Number ecosystem — offering the core adjustable firmness technology without the premium comfort layers of higher-tier models.
Our Hands-On Experience
Sleep Number completely overhauled their lineup in 2026, replacing the old c/p/i/m series with three new collections: ComfortMode, ComfortNext, and Climate. The ComfortMode is their entry point, replacing the old c2/c4 models.
I tested the ComfortMode at a Sleep Number store for about 45 minutes. The adjustable firmness is the star feature — clicking between 25 and 75 on the remote, you can feel a clear difference. At 25, it's plush and body-hugging. At 75, it's noticeably firm. For couples, this alone justifies the price.
The 10-inch profile is my main concern. Compared to the 12-14 inch ComfortNext models I tested the same day, the ComfortMode feels thinner and less luxurious. The comfort layers above the air chambers are adequate but not plush. If you can stretch to $2,099 for the Lux, the extra inch and improved hip relief are worth it.
