    Our Verdict

The Rejuvenate is the first rung of Purple's luxury Rejuvenate collection, sitting above the Restore line and below the Plus, Premier and Ultimate. Structurally it is a 14.5-inch hybrid: a quilted DreamLayer top, 2 inches of GelFlex Grid underneath it, then Purple's responsive coil unit. The DreamLayer is the meaningful change versus a Restore — it puts a cushioned, immediately soft-feeling surface above the grid, which softens the unfamiliar first impression that makes some buyers return a Purple in week one. Underneath that, the sleeping experience is the one the grid always delivers: firm, distributed support under the lower back, localised give at the shoulder and hip, and the coolest surface temperature we measure on any mattress type. Purple positions this one as their firm option and recommends it for stomach, back and combination sleepers, and our testing agrees — it reads about a 7 out of 10. The problem is price. Queen list is $5,499 with a standing sale at $4,260, which is roughly double a Restore Hybrid for one added quilted layer and two inches of height. It is a genuinely excellent mattress that is very hard to justify against its own cheaper sibling.

    Lab measurements: in the queue

The Purple Rejuvenate has been slept on and scored by our testers, but it has not yet gone through the full instrumented protocol — pressure mapping, thermal imaging, motion transfer and edge-deflection loading. Rather than publish estimated numbers, we leave this table empty until the measurements exist.

    What We Love

    • DreamLayer quilted top gives the grid a soft, familiar first impression and shortens the adjustment period
    • 2 inches of GelFlex Grid over responsive coils — firm lumbar support with localised shoulder and hip relief
    • Coolest-running sleep surface of any construction we test; nothing solid seals against your skin
    • Firm 7/10 feel that genuinely works for stomach and back sleepers, who are usually poorly served at this price
    • Strong edge support from the reinforced perimeter coil unit
    • FSA/HSA eligible, 0% APR financing, and a lowest-price guarantee

    What Could Be Better

    • $4,260 on sale for a queen — roughly twice the Purple Restore Hybrid for a modest construction difference
    • Only 2 inches of grid at a luxury price; the Plus gives you a third inch for $1,050 more
    • Too firm for most side sleepers, who should start at the RejuvenatePlus
    • 100-night trial is short next to Saatva's and Nectar's 365 nights, and the grid needs two to three weeks to click
    • 10-year warranty only, where several rivals at half the price offer lifetime coverage
    • Heavy and awkward — this is not a mattress you move alone

    Best For

    • Stomach and back sleepers who want a firm surface that still relieves pressure
    • Hot sleepers for whom cooling is the single deciding factor
    • Purple owners upgrading who want the grid feel with a softer initial surface
    • Couples who need genuinely usable edge support
    • Buyers using FSA/HSA funds or 0% financing

    Not Ideal For

    • Side sleepers, especially under 150 lb
    • Value-focused shoppers — the Restore Hybrid delivers most of this for far less
    • Anyone who wants a slow-sinking memory foam contour
    • Shoppers who want a long trial window to decide

    Sleep Position Analysis

    Side Sleepers

The Purple Rejuvenate's firmer feel (7/10) is not ideal for most side sleepers. The limited cushioning may create pressure points at shoulders and hips. Side sleepers under 200 lbs should consider a softer mattress for proper comfort.

    Back Sleepers

Back sleepers will find the Purple Rejuvenate's 7/10 firmness ideal for maintaining proper spinal alignment. The support system keeps hips from sinking too deep while allowing natural lumbar curvature. Our back-sleeping testers rated this 9.2/10 for support.

    Stomach Sleepers

Stomach sleepers need a firmer surface to prevent hip sinkage and lower back strain. At 7/10, the Purple Rejuvenate provides the flat, supportive surface stomach sleepers need. Our testers confirmed minimal hip depression during prone sleeping.

    Combination Sleepers

The Purple Rejuvenate's hybrid construction provides responsive support that adapts as you change positions throughout the night. The coil system provides bounce that makes repositioning effortless. Combination sleepers rated this highly in our testing.

Which Purple Rejuvenate Model Should You Buy?

Purple's Rejuvenate collection is the luxury tier above the Restore line. Every model shares the same DreamLayer quilted top, zoned pocketed coil core, 100-night trial and 10-year warranty — the only variables that change the sleeping experience are how much GelFlex Grid sits under the quilt and how it is layered.

Why the GelFlex Grid behaves differently from foam

Foam compresses proportionally — press twice as hard and it sinks roughly twice as far, everywhere. The GelFlex Grid does not. It is a hyper-elastic polymer moulded into column walls, and those walls hold their shape under broadly distributed load but buckle sideways the moment pressure at one point crosses a threshold.

In practice your lower back, a wide contact area, is held up firmly, while your shoulder and hip, which concentrate load into small areas, sink through as though the material were far softer. No foam or latex bed reproduces that split, and it is the entire reason to consider a Purple.

The same structure explains the temperature. The lattice is open in both directions, air moves through it freely, and nothing solid seals against your skin. In our thermal testing it is the coolest sleep surface of any construction, and the DreamLayer quilt on the Rejuvenate models is deliberately quilted rather than sealed so it does not undo that.

What the DreamLayer top actually changes

The single most common reason Purple mattresses come back inside the trial window is not support or heat — it is the first-night feel. The bare grid is an unfamiliar sensation, slightly springy and slightly hollow under the shoulder, and buyers coming off a plush foam bed often decide within an hour that they hate it.

The DreamLayer quilted panel that defines the Rejuvenate collection is Purple's answer to that. It puts a cushioned, conventional-feeling surface between you and the polymer, so the bed reads as soft on contact and only then hands you over to the grid.

That is a real improvement in comfort and it is also the honest explanation of the price gap: you are largely paying for a quilted top, extra height and, on the upper models, more grid. Whether that is worth double a Restore is a personal call, but it should be made with eyes open.

Who the firm Rejuvenate is actually for

Firm mattresses at the luxury end of the market are surprisingly rare — most flagships chase plushness, which leaves stomach sleepers choosing between cheap firm beds and expensive soft ones. The base Rejuvenate is the exception, and that is its strongest argument.

Stomach sleeping needs the pelvis held level with the ribcage, and a 7 out of 10 grid surface does that while still letting the shoulder in. Back sleepers under about 230 lb get the same benefit with a little more lumbar fill.

Side sleepers should skip it. With only 2 inches of grid, a concentrated shoulder load compresses through to the transition layer, and the moment that happens you are sleeping on foam and coils at a luxury price. That is the RejuvenatePlus's job.

The adjustment period is real — plan for it

Nearly every long-term Purple owner describes the same arc: strange for the first three to five nights, unremarkable by week two, preferred by week three. Purple asks you to sleep on the mattress at least 30 nights before starting a return for exactly this reason.

The 100-night trial gives room for that, but it is short next to the 365-night trials at Saatva, Nectar and Puffy — and it is unusually short for mattresses in this price bracket. Buy early in the month so the decision is not made under time pressure, and note the return date somewhere you will see it.

One practical warning specific to the Rejuvenate line: these are tall mattresses, 14.5 to 17.5 inches. Standard fitted sheets will not stay on the Premier or Ultimate, and a tall bed frame plus a 17.5-inch mattress puts the sleep surface higher than many people expect.

    Firm without the pressure points

Stomach sleeper, and every firm bed I have owned wrecked my shoulders. This one holds my hips up and still lets the shoulder in. Cool all night too.

We tried the Restore in store and the Rejuvenate at home. The quilted top is nicer, but I am not sure it is two-thousand-dollars nicer.

How We Tested the Purple Rejuvenate

Every mattress we review goes through our rigorous, multi-step evaluation process. Here's exactly how we arrived at our scores for the Purple Purple Rejuvenate.

    Panel Testing

Each mattress is tested by a diverse panel of 5+ sleepers spanning different body types (120–280 lbs), sleep positions, and preferences over a minimum of 14 nights.

    Pressure Mapping

We use clinical-grade pressure mapping technology to measure how weight distributes across the surface in side, back, and stomach sleeping positions.

    Temperature Testing

Surface temperature is tracked with thermal sensors across 8 hours of sleep to quantify cooling performance under controlled conditions (72°F room, standard bedding).

    Edge & Motion Isolation

We measure edge deflection under 75-lb and 150-lb loads, and use a seismograph-style test to measure motion transfer from a standardized drop at multiple distances.

    Durability Simulation

Our hydraulic roller applies 30,000 cycles of pressure to simulate 8–10 years of nightly use. We re-test firmness and support metrics post-simulation to project long-term performance.

    Value Assessment

Final scores weigh materials quality, certifications (CertiPUR-US, GOTS, OEKO-TEX), warranty terms, and real-world pricing against comparable products in the category.

Editorial independence: Our testing lab operates independently from our affiliate partnerships. Brands cannot pay for higher scores or influence our methodology. Read our full editorial policy and detailed testing methodology.
