Nectar Memory Foam

The Nectar Classic is a 12-inch all-foam mattress built around a slow-recovery memory foam layer over a poly transition and a high-density base. It scores its wins on pressure relief and motion isolation: our pressure mapping showed shoulder and hip peaks dropping sharply for side sleepers under about 230 lb, and motion transfer was among the lowest of any bed in the lab — a real advantage if your partner gets up at night.

It is a value proposition first. At roughly $699 Queen it undercuts almost every mattress we recommend, and the 365-night trial plus forever warranty removes most of the risk of buying a bed you have never lain on. For a guest room, a first apartment, or a shopper who simply does not want to spend four figures, it is the default answer.

It is the wrong bed for three groups. Sleepers over about 250 lb will compress the comfort layers and bottom out against the base foam. Hot sleepers will notice the surface warming across the night — foam traps heat, and no cover treatment fully solves that. And anyone who sits on the edge of the bed daily should look at the Hybrid instead; foam perimeters collapse in a way coils do not.

Start with the Classic unless one of two things is true. If you sleep hot or share the bed and use its full width, step up to the Classic Hybrid — the coil unit adds airflow and a firm perimeter for about $200, and it is the single best value move in the lineup. If you are a dedicated side sleeper who wants more give at the shoulder, the Premier's extra inch of comfort foam is the meaningful difference.

The Premier Copper and Luxe are harder to justify. Copper infusion helps at the margin, but a $899 hybrid vents heat better than a $1,499 foam bed does. And once you are at Luxe money you are shopping against the Saatva Classic and the WinkBed, both of which we rate higher for durability and edge support.

Firmness is not the variable here. Every model sits in a narrow medium-firm band, so if the Classic feels wrong on firmness, switching Nectar models will not fix it — a different brand will.

Heat is the Classic's honest weakness. Memory foam conforms by softening in response to body heat, which is exactly the mechanism that traps it. Our thermal runs show surface temperature climbing through the first two hours and then holding — tolerable in a cool room with breathable sheets, uncomfortable in a warm one. A wool or cotton protector helps; a waterproof vinyl protector makes it noticeably worse.

Durability follows the same physics. High-density base foam holds up well, but the comfort layer is the part that softens over time, and it softens faster under concentrated load. That is why our weight guidance matters: under about 230 lb the Classic should hold its shape for years, and over about 250 lb per side you should be looking at the Hybrid, the DreamCloud, or a purpose-built heavy-duty bed instead.

Rotate the mattress head-to-foot every six months. It is not flippable, and rotating is the only maintenance that meaningfully extends the comfort layer's life. Use a solid platform or slats no more than about three inches apart — an unsupported gap is the most common reason a foam-bed warranty claim gets denied.

Nectar's trial is a full year with no return fee and free pickup, which is genuinely one of the most generous policies in the category. There is a 30-night break-in requirement before a return can be processed — standard across the industry, and reasonable given how much foam changes in the first few weeks.

The forever warranty is real but conditional. For the first ten years Nectar repairs or replaces a defective mattress outright; after that, the policy shifts to a replacement at a reduced cost rather than free. Sagging is covered past a defined indentation depth measured with no weight on the bed, and using an unsupported foundation voids it. Keep proof of purchase and a photo of your frame — those are the two things claims actually turn on.
