Buying Guide

How to Choose a Mattress Topper

A mattress topper can transform your sleep for a fraction of the cost of a new mattress. Here's everything you need to know to choose the right one.

When Should You Get a Topper?

Your mattress is too firm and you want to add softness without replacing it

You have an older mattress (3–5 years) that's losing comfort but still has decent support

You're sleeping on a temporary mattress (guest room, dorm, rental) and need a comfort upgrade

You want to add cooling to a mattress that sleeps hot

You have back pain and want to test whether more or less cushioning helps before buying a new mattress

⚠️ When a topper won't help: If your mattress is sagging more than 1.5 inches or has lost its support core integrity, a topper will just conform to the sag. You need a new mattress.
