The 13-inch build pairs a soft quilted top with encased coils, so edge support and ease of movement are far better than all-foam rivals at $1,199. It sleeps neutral rather than actively cold. Skip it if you want deep memory-foam hug or if you sleep strictly on your stomach above 250 lbs, where the Plank Firm is the better fit.
Our Hands-On Experience
Right out of the box, the Sealy Posturepedic Plus had a familiar, understated look. The mattress felt surprisingly substantial, weighing in at around 120 pounds for the queen size I unboxed. The cover material, while not explicitly branded, felt durable enough to hold up for years, though it wasn't as soft to the touch as some pricier models I've tested, like the Saatva Classic. I didn't detect any off-gassing odors, which was a pleasant surprise, especially compared to some all-foam beds I've unrolled previously.
As a side sleeper who occasionally rotates to my back, I found the 6.5/10 firmness rating to be quite accurate. My hips and shoulders sank just enough to relieve pressure, and I measured about 1.5 inches of sinkage when lying on my side. Crucially, my partner, who's a stomach sleeper, noticed a significant improvement in lower back support compared to our old, softer memory foam bed.
