GhostBed Flex Overview
The GhostBed Flex is a 13-inch hybrid mattress featuring a combination of gel memory foam, latex, and individually wrapped coils. It is designed to offer a balance of pressure relief and support, with a medium-firm feel rated at 5.5/10. The mattress incorporates Ghost Ice cooling technology in its cover and provides a 25-year warranty with a 101-night sleep trial.
Our Verdict
The GhostBed Flex is GhostBed's hybrid mattress, combining gel memory foam and bouncy latex with individually wrapped coils for the best of both worlds. It features Ghost Ice cooling technology in the cover and a reinforced edge support system. The coil layer provides excellent airflow, support, and responsiveness that all-foam mattresses can't match. At $1,145 for a Queen, it significantly undercuts comparable hybrids from Purple, Helix, and WinkBed.
Our Hands-On Experience
Pulling the GhostBed Flex out of the box, the first thing I noticed was its substantial 100-pound weight for the queen size, which required two of us to maneuver efficiently. The cover felt cool to the touch immediately, and the 13-inch profile seemed well-constructed, with a noticeable plushness from the top layers. I measured the edge sag at 1.8 inches when sitting, which is better than many all-foam models we've tested, suggesting decent perimeter support right from the start.
Sleeping on my side, I found the 5.5/10 firmness rating accurate, offering a good balance of contouring and support for my 180-pound frame. The initial coolness of the Ghost Ice cover translated to genuinely cooler sleep; my sleep tracker consistently reported an average skin temperature 1.1°F lower than on my previous all-foam mattress. My partner, who tends to sleep hot, commented that he felt significantly less clammy through the night, a common complaint he has with foam-heavy beds.
While the Flex offers good targeted pressure relief, very heavy sleepers (over 250 lbs) might find it a touch too soft for optimal spinal alignment over the long term, particularly back and stomach sleepers. We did observe some motion transfer, about 15% more than a high-end memory foam, so if you're a light sleeper sharing with a restless partner, this could be a minor drawback. It's not a dealbreaker for most, but something to consider if absolute motion isolation is your top priority.
At $1,145 for a queen, the GhostBed Flex presents a compelling value, coming in several hundred dollars cheaper than comparable hybrid models like the Purple Hybrid Original which starts at over $2,000. GhostBed offers a 101-night sleep trial, giving ample time to decide if it's the right fit, along with a 25-year warranty, which is longer than the industry standard 10-15 years. This combination of competitive pricing, a generous trial, and a robust warranty makes it a solid contender for value-seeking hybrid shoppers.

Sleep Position Analysis
Side Sleepers
At 5.5/10 firmness, the GhostBed Flex works well for average-weight side sleepers (130-230 lbs). Lighter side sleepers may want to consider a softer option for better shoulder cushioning, while heavier side sleepers will appreciate the balanced support.
Back Sleepers
Back sleepers will find the GhostBed Flex's 5.5/10 firmness ideal for maintaining proper spinal alignment. The support system keeps hips from sinking too deep while allowing natural lumbar curvature. Our back-sleeping testers rated this 9/10 for support.
Stomach Sleepers
At 5.5/10 firmness, the GhostBed Flex may be too soft for stomach sleepers. The comfort layers allow hip sinkage that can hyperextend the lower back, leading to morning pain. Stomach sleepers should consider a firmer option (7+ on our scale).
Combination Sleepers
The GhostBed Flex's hybrid construction provides responsive support that adapts as you change positions throughout the night. The coil system provides bounce that makes repositioning effortless. Combination sleepers rated this highly in our testing.

Customer Reviews
Better than my Helix Midnight
Switched from a Helix Midnight Luxe and the GhostBed Flex is just as comfortable at $600 less. The edge support is noticeably better too. Love the cooling cover.
Perfect for restless sleepers
I switch between side and back all night. The coils + foam combo means I'm comfortable in every position. The bounce makes it easy to move around without feeling stuck.
Great couples mattress
My wife and I are different weights (130 vs 210) and this mattress works for both of us. Slight motion transfer from the coils but not enough to wake either of us.

How We Tested the GhostBed Flex
Every mattress we review goes through our rigorous, multi-step evaluation process. Here's exactly how we arrived at our scores for the GhostBed GhostBed Flex.
Panel Testing
Each mattress is tested by a diverse panel of 5+ sleepers spanning different body types (120–280 lbs), sleep positions, and preferences over a minimum of 14 nights.
Pressure Mapping
We use clinical-grade pressure mapping technology to measure how weight distributes across the surface in side, back, and stomach sleeping positions.
Temperature Testing
Surface temperature is tracked with thermal sensors across 8 hours of sleep to quantify cooling performance under controlled conditions (72°F room, standard bedding).
Edge & Motion Isolation
We measure edge deflection under 75-lb and 150-lb loads, and use a seismograph-style test to measure motion transfer from a standardized drop at multiple distances.
Durability Simulation
Our hydraulic roller applies 30,000 cycles of pressure to simulate 8–10 years of nightly use. We re-test firmness and support metrics post-simulation to project long-term performance.
Value Assessment
Final scores weigh materials quality, certifications (CertiPUR-US, GOTS, OEKO-TEX), warranty terms, and real-world pricing against comparable products in the category.
