Sealy Mattress Review
The mainstream Posturepedic name, now part of Tempur Sealy International.
About Sealy
Sealy traces back to 1881 in Sealy, Texas, and built its reputation on the Posturepedic line introduced in the 1950s, marketed around orthopedic-style back support. It is one of the most recognized mattress names in the United States.
Since the 2013 merger with Tempur-Pedic's parent, Sealy has served as the mainstream volume brand of Tempur Sealy International while Tempur-Pedic holds the premium tier and Stearns & Foster the luxury tier.
The current lineup runs from the value Essentials line to Posturepedic and Posturepedic Plus hybrids. Sealy hybrids are typically firmer under the hips than comparable Serta models, which makes them a common recommendation for stomach and back sleepers on a budget.

Sealy FAQ
What does Posturepedic actually mean?
Posturepedic is Sealy's name for its reinforced center-third support system. The middle of the mattress uses a firmer coil or foam zone because that is where most of the body's weight concentrates. It is a real design difference, not just marketing, though every major brand now does something similar.
Is Sealy better than Serta?
Sealy hybrids generally feel firmer and hold the hips higher; Serta tends toward softer surface comfort. For back and stomach sleepers we lean Sealy, for side sleepers wanting cushioning we lean Serta. Both are best bought on promotion.
How long do Sealy mattresses last?
Around 7–8 years for the Posturepedic hybrid lines with regular rotation, and closer to 5–6 for the Essentials tier.
Are Sealy mattresses good for back pain?
The Posturepedic and Posturepedic Plus hybrids in firm or medium-firm are a reasonable budget choice for back pain because of the reinforced lumbar zone. If pain is chronic, a luxury hybrid with a dedicated lumbar layer will do more.
