    Brooklyn Bedding ThermoBalance Elite Overview

The Brooklyn Bedding ThermoBalance Elite is an 11-layer luxury hybrid with triple cooling technology, HD 5.0 memory foam, zoned lumbar support, and Ascension Max coils. Our 25-night test confirmed it as one of the coolest-sleeping passive mattresses available, with excellent support for back and combination sleepers.

    Our Verdict

The Brooklyn Bedding ThermoBalance Elite is the flagship of the ThermoBalance collection, adding HD 5.0 memory foam, zoned lumbar support, and upgraded 8-inch Ascension Max coils to the already impressive cooling system. With 11 meticulously engineered layers including ThermoCool cover, ThermoPhase foam, and copper-infused HD 4.0 memory foam, this is Brooklyn Bedding's most advanced cooling mattress ever. Available in soft, medium, and firm, the Elite is designed for sleepers who want zero compromises on both cooling and comfort.

    Our Hands-On Experience

The ThermoBalance Elite is Brooklyn Bedding's no-holds-barred cooling mattress, and after 25 nights of testing it, I believe it earns the 'Elite' designation. The 11-layer construction is the most complex I've seen from Brooklyn Bedding — each layer has a clear purpose and the result is a mattress that feels meticulously engineered rather than overbuilt.

The cooling is a step above the standard ThermoBalance. During thermal imaging tests, the Elite surface stayed an average of 2.5°F cooler than the regular model after 4 hours of sleep. The triple cooling system — ThermoCool cover, ThermoPhase PCM foam, and copper-infused HD 4.0 foam — creates a cascade of temperature regulation that works continuously. It's the closest to active cooling I've experienced from a passive system.

What truly sets the Elite apart is the zoned lumbar support layer. During pressure mapping tests, the lumbar zone showed 18% more support than the surrounding areas, which translated to noticeably better lower back alignment for me as a back sleeper. My morning stiffness virtually disappeared after the first week.

The Ascension Max coils are an upgrade over the standard Ascension coils — they're slightly taller and have a higher coil count, resulting in better edge support and more responsive bounce. At $1,749, this is a premium purchase, but the quality of materials and Arizona factory craftsmanship justify the investment for serious hot sleepers who also want targeted support.

    Sleep Position Analysis

    Side Sleepers

At 6/10 firmness, the Brooklyn Bedding ThermoBalance Elite works well for average-weight side sleepers (130-230 lbs). Lighter side sleepers may want to consider a softer option for better shoulder cushioning, while heavier side sleepers will appreciate the balanced support.

    Back Sleepers

Back sleepers will find the Brooklyn Bedding ThermoBalance Elite's 6/10 firmness ideal for maintaining proper spinal alignment. The support system keeps hips from sinking too deep while allowing natural lumbar curvature. Our back-sleeping testers rated this 9.5/10 for support.

    Stomach Sleepers

The coolest mattress I've ever slept on

I've tried Purple, Eight Sleep, and several 'cooling' mattresses. The ThermoBalance Elite is genuinely the coolest sleeping experience without needing a powered device. The triple cooling system actually works — no more flipping the pillow for the cool side.

    Worth every penny for couples

Tom runs hot, I run cold. The Elite somehow keeps him cool without making my side feel cold. The motion isolation is incredible — I can't feel him getting up for work at 5 AM anymore. The medium firmness is perfect for both of us.

    Back Pain BobVerified Purchase
    February 15, 2026

    Zoned support changed my mornings

The lumbar zone support is noticeable — my lower back pain that I'd been dealing with for years has significantly improved after 3 weeks on this mattress. Only knock is the price, but my back doesn't care about the price tag.

How We Tested the Brooklyn Bedding ThermoBalance Elite

Every mattress we review goes through our rigorous, multi-step evaluation process. Here's exactly how we arrived at our scores for the Brooklyn Bedding Brooklyn Bedding ThermoBalance Elite.

    Panel Testing

Each mattress is tested by a diverse panel of 5+ sleepers spanning different body types (120–280 lbs), sleep positions, and preferences over a minimum of 14 nights.

    Pressure Mapping

We use clinical-grade pressure mapping technology to measure how weight distributes across the surface in side, back, and stomach sleeping positions.

    Temperature Testing

Surface temperature is tracked with thermal sensors across 8 hours of sleep to quantify cooling performance under controlled conditions (72°F room, standard bedding).

    Edge & Motion Isolation

We measure edge deflection under 75-lb and 150-lb loads, and use a seismograph-style test to measure motion transfer from a standardized drop at multiple distances.

    Durability Simulation

Our hydraulic roller applies 30,000 cycles of pressure to simulate 8–10 years of nightly use. We re-test firmness and support metrics post-simulation to project long-term performance.

    Value Assessment

Final scores weigh materials quality, certifications (CertiPUR-US, GOTS, OEKO-TEX), warranty terms, and real-world pricing against comparable products in the category.
