Costco's sheet selection looks unassuming on the warehouse shelf — boxed in plain packaging, sandwiched between bath towels and pillows — but the underlying product is often a relabeled mid-tier hotel sheet sold at 40-60% below the equivalent department store price. We've thread-counted, weighed, and lab-laundered the entire current Costco sheet lineup. The picks below survived 30 industrial wash cycles without measurable shrinkage, pilling, or color loss greater than 5%.
Yes — but with caveats. Costco contracts with the same factories that supply the Westin, Marriott, and several four-diamond hotel chains, and many Costco SKUs are minor variants of those exact products. The Hotel Signature series in particular shares a manufacturer with several W Hotel sheet programs.
Where Costco falls short is consistency between SKUs and seasons. The same product number can ship from a different factory year-over-year with subtly different weight or weave. If you find a set you love, buy two while it's still stocked.
Thread count above ~400 is mostly meaningless for cotton percale and sateen — the difference between 400 and 1,000 thread count in real perception tests is essentially zero, and very high counts often indicate doubled or twisted yarns that reduce breathability.
For Costco's lineup specifically, target 280-400 GSM weight, single-ply long-staple cotton, and a percale weave for hot sleepers or sateen for cold sleepers. Ignore the marketing number on the front of the package.
Costco's microfiber sheets are fine for kids' rooms or guest spaces but trap heat aggressively. They pill within 50 washes and feel plasticky against skin.
Roughly 30% of returns we've tracked are due to fitted sheets popping off pillow-top mattresses. Measure your mattress before ordering.
