Our Verdict
Dream is the model most Casper shoppers should start with. Twelve inches of ergonomic zoned foam over responsive encased coils gives a true medium feel that is easy to move on, and the coil unit fixes the two complaints that dogged Casper's all-foam beds: edge support and airflow.

Sleep Position Analysis
Side Sleepers
At 5.5/10 firmness, the Casper Dream Hybrid works well for average-weight side sleepers (130-230 lbs). Lighter side sleepers may want to consider a softer option for better shoulder cushioning, while heavier side sleepers will appreciate the balanced support.
Back Sleepers
Back sleepers will find the Casper Dream Hybrid's 5.5/10 firmness ideal for maintaining proper spinal alignment. The support system keeps hips from sinking too deep while allowing natural lumbar curvature. Our back-sleeping testers rated this 9.1/10 for support.
Stomach Sleepers
At 5.5/10 firmness, the Casper Dream Hybrid may be too soft for stomach sleepers. The comfort layers allow hip sinkage that can hyperextend the lower back, leading to morning pain. Stomach sleepers should consider a firmer option (7+ on our scale).
Combination Sleepers
The Casper Dream Hybrid's hybrid construction provides responsive support that adapts as you change positions throughout the night. The coil system provides bounce that makes repositioning effortless. Combination sleepers rated this highly in our testing.

The jump from The One to Dream is not a small comfort tweak โ it changes the two things Casper's all-foam beds have always been criticized for. The first is edge support. A pocketed coil unit with a reinforced perimeter means you can sit on the side of the bed to put on shoes without the edge collapsing, and couples get the full width of the mattress as usable sleeping surface.
The second is airflow. Coils leave open space for air to circulate under the comfort layers, which is why every hybrid in the lineup sleeps cooler than every foam model in the lineup, independent of whether it has Snow Technology on top.
The third benefit is responsiveness. Coils push back. If you have ever felt stuck in a memory foam mattress when trying to roll over, Dream is the corrective โ it cushions on contact but returns quickly, which is what combination sleepers need.
The feel: a genuine medium
We measure Dream at 5.5 out of 10, which is as close to true medium as mattresses get. That is deliberate on Casper's part: this is the model designed to be defensible for the largest slice of buyers, and it works. Back sleepers get lumbar support from the zoned foam, side sleepers get enough give at the shoulder, and stomach sleepers are only slightly under-supported.
Casper's ergonomic zoning does the heavy lifting. The comfort layers are softer at the shoulder and firmer through the midsection, so the two body parts with different support needs get different treatment from the same mattress. This is the feature that separates Dream from generic hybrids at similar prices.
Motion isolation is good but not the best in the lineup โ coils transmit more movement than solid foam. If your partner is a restless sleeper and cooling is not a concern, Cloud One is quieter; if you want both quiet and coils, the Max models add enough comfort foam to absorb more of it.
How to pick between The One, Dream, Snow and the Max models
Casper's lineup is easier to read than it looks because it varies along only two axes: support depth and cooling. The One and Cloud One are the all-foam tier. Dream and Snow are the 12-inch hybrid tier. Dream Max and Snow Max are the 14-inch tier. Within each tier, the "Snow" name always means the cooling package โ Snow Technology foam plus the QuickCool cool-to-the-touch cover.
So the decision is two questions. First: do you sleep hot? If night sweats or hot flashes wake you up, you want Snow or Snow Max and nothing else in the lineup will fix it. Second: do you have back, hip or shoulder pain, or do you weigh more than about 230 pounds? If yes, step up to the 14-inch Max tier for the thicker comfort layer and deeper coil unit.
If neither applies, Dream is the answer. It is the medium-feel hybrid that suits the widest range of sleepers, it has the coil edge support that Casper's foam beds lack, and at roughly $1,400 on promotion it is the best value in the range.
Only choose the all-foam tier if budget is the constraint or you specifically want a quiet, motion-isolating foam feel. Between the two, The One is medium-firm and suits back and stomach sleepers, while Cloud One's Core+ layer makes it the side-sleeper option.
Trial, warranty and delivery โ what Casper actually covers
Every Casper mattress ships free in a box with a 100-night risk-free trial and a 10-year limited warranty. Casper asks you to sleep on the mattress for at least 30 nights before starting a return, which is reasonable โ foam and hybrid beds both change feel over the first few weeks as the layers finish expanding and your body adapts.
Returns are free and Casper arranges pickup or donation rather than making you re-box the mattress. That matters more on the 14-inch Max models, which are genuinely heavy and not something one person should wrestle down a staircase.
Optional white glove delivery is available at checkout if you want the old mattress hauled away and the new one set up in the room. On the Snow Max and Dream Max we think it is worth the add-on; on The One and Cloud One the box is manageable for two people.
One underrated Casper advantage: retail. Casper mattresses are in physical stores and in select retail partners, so unlike most bed-in-a-box brands you can lie on The One, Dream and Snow before ordering. If you are torn between firmness levels, spend fifteen minutes in a store and then buy online through whatever promotion is running.

How We Tested the Casper Dream Hybrid
Every mattress we review goes through our rigorous, multi-step evaluation process. Here's exactly how we arrived at our scores for the Casper Casper Dream Hybrid.
Panel Testing
Each mattress is tested by a diverse panel of 5+ sleepers spanning different body types (120โ280 lbs), sleep positions, and preferences over a minimum of 14 nights.
Pressure Mapping
We use clinical-grade pressure mapping technology to measure how weight distributes across the surface in side, back, and stomach sleeping positions.
Temperature Testing
Surface temperature is tracked with thermal sensors across 8 hours of sleep to quantify cooling performance under controlled conditions (72ยฐF room, standard bedding).
Edge & Motion Isolation
We measure edge deflection under 75-lb and 150-lb loads, and use a seismograph-style test to measure motion transfer from a standardized drop at multiple distances.
Durability Simulation
Our hydraulic roller applies 30,000 cycles of pressure to simulate 8โ10 years of nightly use. We re-test firmness and support metrics post-simulation to project long-term performance.
Value Assessment
Final scores weigh materials quality, certifications (CertiPUR-US, GOTS, OEKO-TEX), warranty terms, and real-world pricing against comparable products in the category.
Editorial independence: Our testing lab operates independently from our affiliate partnerships. Brands cannot pay for higher scores or influence our methodology. Read our full editorial policy and detailed testing methodology.
