"Made in USA" vs. "Designed in USA"

    • FTC rules require "Made in USA" to mean "all or virtually all" production happens domestically. "Designed in USA" or "Assembled in USA" do not meet this bar.
    • Many imported mattresses are shipped compressed and "assembled" stateside (the cover sewn on, the box packed). They still qualify as imports.
    • Saatva ships 95% of its mattresses from one of 19 US factories. Tempur-Pedic manufactures all US-bound mattresses in Albuquerque, NM and Duffield, VA.
    • Ask three questions before buying: what state is the factory in, what's the factory ZIP, and what percentage of components are sourced domestically.
