Our Verdict
The Helix Elite is the top-tier upgrade in the Helix lineup, building on their sleep quiz customization with premium materials. It features a quilted pillow top with GlacioTex™ cooling cover, zoned lumbar support coils, and high-density memory foam. Available in multiple firmness levels matched to your sleep profile, the Elite delivers personalized luxury at a more accessible price than traditional luxury brands.
Our Hands-On Experience
Right out of the box, the Helix Elite felt substantial, noticeably heavier than the standard Helix Midnight Luxe I tested last year. The quilted pillow top had a soft, inviting give when I pressed into it, and the GlacioTex cover felt distinctly cool to the touch, almost like linen. I measured the total thickness at 15.5 inches, a significant bump up from the 12-inch standard Helix models, which certainly contributed to its more imposing presence.
Sleeping on the Helix Elite, I immediately felt the targeted support under my lower back. As a side sleeper, I often wake with a slight ache, but after a week, that was largely gone. My partner, a stomach sleeper, noted the zoned lumbar support was a game-changer, preventing the usual hip sinkage they'd experience on our old 6/10 firmness mattress. The cooling cover kept us both from overheating, maintaining a consistent surface temperature around 70°F even on warmer nights, about 2°F cooler than the non-cooling memory foam mattress it replaced.
Despite its many strengths, the Helix Elite isn't for everyone. Its significant height means you might need new deep-pocket sheets, and motion transfer, while not terrible, was more noticeable than on a pure memory foam bed. I measured about 2 inches of disturbance when my 170lb partner shifted. If you're a very lightweight individual (under 130 lbs) seeking an ultra-plush, cloud-like feel, the medium-firm 5.5/10 setting might still feel a bit too supportive.
Considering its features, the Helix Elite offers compelling value at $1799, especially when compared to luxury brands that often charge upwards of $3000 for similar build quality and zoned support. The 15-year warranty and standard 100-night trial period are reassuring, aligning with industry norms. While it's a step up in price from Helix's core line, the tangible improvements in support, cooling, and overall material feel justify the roughly $600 increase over the Helix Midnight Luxe.

Sleep Position Analysis
Side Sleepers
At 5.5/10 firmness, the Helix Elite works well for average-weight side sleepers (130-230 lbs). Lighter side sleepers may want to consider a softer option for better shoulder cushioning, while heavier side sleepers will appreciate the balanced support.
Back Sleepers
Back sleepers will find the Helix Elite's 5.5/10 firmness ideal for maintaining proper spinal alignment. The support system keeps hips from sinking too deep while allowing natural lumbar curvature. Our back-sleeping testers rated this 9.1/10 for support.
Stomach Sleepers
At 5.5/10 firmness, the Helix Elite may be too soft for stomach sleepers. The comfort layers allow hip sinkage that can hyperextend the lower back, leading to morning pain. Stomach sleepers should consider a firmer option (7+ on our scale).
Combination Sleepers
The Helix Elite's hybrid construction provides responsive support that adapts as you change positions throughout the night. The coil system provides bounce that makes repositioning effortless. Combination sleepers rated this highly in our testing.

Customer Reviews
The sleep quiz actually works
Was skeptical about an online quiz picking my mattress, but the Elite in medium matched my preferences perfectly. The pillow top is luxurious and the cooling cover actually works. Best sleep I've had in years.
Split firmness saved our marriage
My husband got the firm side, I got the medium. We both sleep great now. The Elite quality is noticeably better than the standard Helix we had before — the pillow top makes a huge difference.
Lumbar support is legit
The zoned coils really do provide extra support in the lower back area. Waking up without stiffness for the first time in a while. Cooling could be slightly better but overall very happy.

How We Tested the Helix Elite
Every mattress we review goes through our rigorous, multi-step evaluation process. Here's exactly how we arrived at our scores for the Helix Helix Elite.
Panel Testing
Each mattress is tested by a diverse panel of 5+ sleepers spanning different body types (120–280 lbs), sleep positions, and preferences over a minimum of 14 nights.
Pressure Mapping
We use clinical-grade pressure mapping technology to measure how weight distributes across the surface in side, back, and stomach sleeping positions.
Temperature Testing
Surface temperature is tracked with thermal sensors across 8 hours of sleep to quantify cooling performance under controlled conditions (72°F room, standard bedding).
Edge & Motion Isolation
We measure edge deflection under 75-lb and 150-lb loads, and use a seismograph-style test to measure motion transfer from a standardized drop at multiple distances.
Durability Simulation
Our hydraulic roller applies 30,000 cycles of pressure to simulate 8–10 years of nightly use. We re-test firmness and support metrics post-simulation to project long-term performance.
Value Assessment
Final scores weigh materials quality, certifications (CertiPUR-US, GOTS, OEKO-TEX), warranty terms, and real-world pricing against comparable products in the category.
