    Our Review

The Amalfi is Saatva's channel-tufted upholstered bed, built on a kiln-dried hardwood frame and finished in a stain-resistant performance weave. It's the easiest frame in this roundup to live with: Saatva's white-glove team carries it upstairs, assembles it, and removes the packaging, so there's no assembly step at all. The slat base supports a mattress without a foundation, and the low-profile silhouette suits thicker hybrid mattresses that would otherwise sit too high.

    What We Love

    • Free white-glove delivery and in-room assembly
    • Kiln-dried hardwood frame, not particleboard
    • Stain-resistant performance-weave upholstery
    • Slat base works without a separate foundation
    • Low profile keeps thick hybrids at a normal bed height

    Room for Improvement

    • Expensive — over $2,000 in queen
    • Only a 1-year warranty
    • Upholstery is harder to spot-clean than wood
    • 45-day return window is short for furniture

    They did everything

Two people carried it up a flight of stairs, built it in about 30 minutes and took the boxes with them. The frame is genuinely heavy hardwood — no wobble at all.

Looks more expensive than it is

The channel tufting reads very high-end in person and the taupe fabric hides everything. Docked a point for the one-year warranty.

Right height for a 14-inch mattress

My old frame put the mattress at chest height. This one sits low so the total height is normal again, and the slats handled a king hybrid with no sag.

How We Tested the Saatva Amalfi Upholstered Bed

Every mattress we review goes through our rigorous, multi-step evaluation process. Here's exactly how we arrived at our scores for the Saatva Saatva Amalfi Upholstered Bed.

    Panel Testing

Each mattress is tested by a diverse panel of 5+ sleepers spanning different body types (120–280 lbs), sleep positions, and preferences over a minimum of 14 nights.

    Pressure Mapping

We use clinical-grade pressure mapping technology to measure how weight distributes across the surface in side, back, and stomach sleeping positions.

    Temperature Testing

Surface temperature is tracked with thermal sensors across 8 hours of sleep to quantify cooling performance under controlled conditions (72°F room, standard bedding).

    Edge & Motion Isolation

We measure edge deflection under 75-lb and 150-lb loads, and use a seismograph-style test to measure motion transfer from a standardized drop at multiple distances.

    Durability Simulation

Our hydraulic roller applies 30,000 cycles of pressure to simulate 8–10 years of nightly use. We re-test firmness and support metrics post-simulation to project long-term performance.

    Value Assessment

Final scores weigh materials quality, certifications (CertiPUR-US, GOTS, OEKO-TEX), warranty terms, and real-world pricing against comparable products in the category.
