    Best price tracker tools for mattress deals — found one that emails alerts

    After getting burned buying a mattress two days before a $200 price drop, I went looking for price-tracking tools that work for DTC mattress brands (not just Amazon). Sharing what I found because almost nobody talks about this.

    **Tools I tested:**

    1. **Honey** — Tracks Amazon and a few other retailers. Doesn't work on Saatva, Helix, Purple, Tempur — they all detect and block it. Useless for mattresses.

    2. **CamelCamelCamel** — Amazon only. Useful for Linenspa, Zinus, Tuft & Needle on Amazon. Useless for DTC sites.

    3. **Visualping.com** — Monitors any URL for changes. Free tier: 5 pages, daily checks. I have it watching Saatva Classic, Helix Midnight Luxe, Tempur ProAdapt. Emails me when the price changes. **This is the winner** for DTC mattress tracking.

    4. **Distill.io** — Browser extension that does the same as Visualping. Free for 25 monitors. Slightly more technical to set up but more powerful.

    5. **Sleep Sage's deals page** — Updates manually but they catch most major drops within a few hours. Good as a passive supplement to active tracking.

    Anyone else have tools/methods worth sharing? Especially curious about anyone who's scripted their own monitoring.

    Visualping is genuinely the right answer for DTC mattress tracking. One important tip: set it to monitor **just the price area** of the page, not the whole page. Otherwise you get notified every time they change a banner or a review snippet.

    In Visualping, click "Select an area" and draw a box around just the price. Cuts false alerts to near zero.

    I built a tiny Python script with `requests` + `BeautifulSoup` that scrapes the queen-size price from 8 brand pages every 6 hours and texts me on changes via Twilio. Total cost: $0/mo on Heroku's old free tier (now ~$5/mo).

    If anyone wants the script I'll throw it on GitHub. It handles Saatva, Helix, Tempur, Purple, DreamCloud, Nectar, WinkBed, Brooklyn Bedding.

    Simpler hack: **subscribe to every brand's email list with a separate alias** (Gmail "+" addressing works great — yourname+saatva@gmail.com, yourname+helix@gmail.com etc.). They'll spam you with sale alerts within hours of a price drop. Free, requires zero setup, works perfectly.

    Auto-filter all those emails into a "Mattress Deals" folder so they don't clutter your inbox.

    Slickdeals "Deal Alert" works great too. Set keyword alerts for "Saatva," "Helix Midnight Luxe," "Tempur ProAdapt" etc. and you get pinged whenever a community member posts about a price drop. Often these get posted within minutes of going live.

    Bonus: Slickdeals users frequently share coupon stacking tricks that aren't advertised on the brand sites.

    Reverse approach: I emailed Saatva customer service and asked if they'd notify me when there was a price drop on the Classic. They said no but they offered me $200 off on the spot to "thank me for my interest." Worth trying with any DTC brand — they almost all have unadvertised CS-applied discounts.

    Underrated tool: **Wayback Machine.** Want to know if a current "sale" price is genuinely better than 6 months ago? Punch the brand's product page into web.archive.org and see historical prices. Several "Black Friday" prices in 2024 were actually *higher* than the regular price from earlier that year.
