Best percale sheets that don't pill after 6 months — Brooklinen vs Parachute vs Cozy Earth

I love percale (crisp, cool, hotel-feel) but I've burned through three sets in two years because they all pilled after ~6 months of weekly washing. Looking for percale that genuinely lasts.
My candidates:
- **Brooklinen Classic Percale** ($180 queen) — most popular, lots of reviews
- **Parachute Classic Percale** ($199 queen) — luxury rep, made in Portugal
- **Cozy Earth Bamboo Percale** ($329 queen) — pricey but their stuff is supposed to last forever
- **L.L.Bean 280-Thread Pima Percale** ($129 queen) — old-school workhorse
Key question: which of these has actually survived 12+ months of weekly washing without pilling, fading, or developing that gross "old t-shirt" texture? My pet peeve is sheets that feel amazing for 3 months then turn into sandpaper.

**L.L.Bean 280-thread Pima percale, year 7.** No pilling, no fading, no thinning. Same set, weekly washing, line-dried in summer / tumble-dried medium in winter.
This is the unsexy correct answer. Brooklinen and Parachute are nice marketing companies; L.L.Bean has been making sheets for 100+ years and they make them to last. The catch: their sheets are not the silkiest day-1 — they get *better* as they break in. Most people return them in week 2 before they've broken in.
If you want sheets that last, L.L.Bean wins. If you want sheets that wow your Instagram, Brooklinen wins.
Parachute owner — 4 years on my original set, zero pilling. Wash cold, tumble low. The trick with percale longevity is **never** wash hot or dry hot. Heat is what kills percale weave.
Brooklinen, by contrast, I've had three friends complain about pilling around year 1. Don't know if it's the cotton source or weave density but anecdotally it doesn't last as long.
Pilling on percale is almost always caused by friction in the wash, not the sheet quality. Things that ruin percale:
- Washing with towels (heavy fabrics rub the weave)
- Overloading the washer (no room to move = constant friction)
- Hot water washes
- High-heat drying
- Laundry pods that don't dissolve fully
Fix the laundry routine and even mid-tier percale will last 5+ years.
Cozy Earth bamboo is technically not percale — it's a sateen weave even when they call it "percale-like." If you actually want crisp/cool percale feel, skip it. Beautiful sheets, just not what you're shopping for.
For true percale longevity: Riley Home or Boll & Branch percale are both excellent and underrated. Both have lasted 3+ years for me with no pilling.
Hotel-collection percale from Macy's is genuinely good and lasts. ~$120 queen on sale. Friend has had hers for 6 years.
Weird recommendation but Costco's Hotel Signature 800TC is also surprisingly great for the price (~$80) and 4 years in mine still looks new.
Going to be the contrarian: **Parachute is overpriced for what you get.** Their percale is nice but the cotton isn't meaningfully different from what L.L.Bean uses at half the price. The Portugal manufacturing is a real differentiator (less harsh chemical processing) but you're paying $80+ for the brand and the box.
Best value-per-year-of-life is L.L.Bean. Best aesthetic upgrade is Boll & Branch. Best Instagram is Brooklinen.
