    Our Verdict

The Med-Mizer ComfortWide fills an important niche: a bariatric medical bed with residential styling that doesn't cost $6,000+. With a 42-inch wide sleeping surface (Queen option), 600 lb capacity, and full Trendelenburg positioning, it offers nearly the same functionality as the Transfer Master Companion HD at roughly 60% of the price. The trade-off is slightly less refined aesthetics and a 10-year (vs. lifetime) frame warranty, but for most bariatric home care situations, the ComfortWide delivers outstanding value.

    Best value bariatric bed

We compared this directly to the Transfer Master Companion HD. For $2,500 less, you get 90% of the functionality. The ComfortWide handles our 500 lb patients without issue.

Wide enough to actually be comfortable

At 380 lbs, standard hospital beds were cramped. The 42-inch surface gives me room to sleep comfortably. The cherry side panels make it look decent in my bedroom.
