Standard boxed delivery leaves a heavy carton at your door — typically 70 to 130 lb for a queen. White glove replaces that with in-room setup, unboxing, and disposal of the packaging and often the old mattress.

Pricing ranges from included on premium and luxury models to $99–$300 as an add-on. Old-mattress removal is sometimes bundled and sometimes a separate fee, and a few municipalities charge a recycling levy on top.

It is genuinely worth paying for in three cases: mattresses over about 100 lb, homes with stairs or tight turns, and buyers who cannot safely lift. Latex and thick hybrids are the usual candidates because they are the heaviest builds sold.

Check whether white glove changes your return terms. A few brands charge a return pickup fee on white-glove orders even when the trial itself is free.

White glove delivery means the mattress arrives uncompressed, is carried to the room you choose, set up on your existing frame, and — with most premium brands — your old mattress is hauled away. For heavy latex and luxury innersprings that cannot be boxed, it is not an upsell but the only delivery method available.

It is worth paying for even when optional if you live above a ground floor, are moving a mattress over 100 lb, or have any lifting limitation. Confirm before booking whether removal of the old bed is included, whether the crew will assemble a new frame, and what the scheduling window actually looks like in your area.
