How long should I wait before judging a new mattress?

Bought a DreamCloud 10 days ago and it feels firmer than I expected. Coming from a 12-year-old pillow top so my body might just be confused. How long did it take you to know if a mattress was right or wrong?

30 days minimum. Your body needs to adapt and the foams need to off-gas and break in. I almost returned mine at day 14, by day 45 it was perfect.
Most brands require 30 nights before returning anyway — and that's not arbitrary. The first 2 weeks I always feel slightly off on a new bed.
Walk on it daily, sleep on different spots. Speeds up the break-in. Took my Nectar about 3 weeks to feel right.

Community answers are the lived experience half of the picture. The other half is measured data. Everything below comes from our own lab work in Encinitas, where we record pressure-mapping results, surface-temperature change over an eight-hour night, motion transfer, and edge-support deflection on every mattress we buy. Use the discussion above for real-world ownership detail — how a bed felt after a year, how a brand handled a warranty claim, whether a sale price was actually a discount — and use the guides below to check those impressions against repeatable measurements before you spend money.
